I Just Needed to Get to Work—Now I’m Fighting for Transit Equity
June 16, 2025

For the past few months, I have had eventful mornings and afternoons stepping into a role I have never thought I would step into before: a public transit advocate. Since April, I have attended some rallies that support funding Public Transportation. I have attended a rally at Philadelphia’s City hall, shared my testimony at the Delco Loves SEPTA rally at the Chester Transportation Center, and recently traveled to Harrisburg with Transit for All PA to share the importance of transit funding.

I shared my testimony at the Chester Rally but I was also share part of my story here. I never realized how much I used transportation growing up in Philadelphia; It was truly a lifeline for my mom when she needed to get us around the city when she couldn’t find a ride. My brother and I used to either walk to our elementary school or take the SEPTA bus route 53, back when it was $1.50. The proposed hike to $2.90 will still be devastating to most riders.
